Projects completions in long-term
Projects completions at ESMABAMA continue to generate significant impacts in rural communities, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to sustainable development and the well-being of local populations. During the first half of 2025, several initiatives concluded with tangible results and measurable improvements in people’s lives.
Health, Hygiene and Nutrition Improvement

Health activist conducting home health monitoring.
The Health, Hygiene and Nutrition Improvement Project, Funded by Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ ) and Partnership whith Caritas Germany, was key in strengthening ESMABAMA’s three health centres , making them highly sought-after by local communities. The project provided essential medicines, installed advanced equipment such as incubators, Gens Expert machines, ultrasound devices, washing machines, and supplied lab reagents and ambulance fuel. Beyond technical support, activists assisted patients with chronic illnesses, raising awareness and bringing ESMABAMA closer to the community, often serving as the first point of contact in emergencies.
COHEMO

Women’s camp for exchanging ideas about GBV
The COHEMO Project played a crucial role in community health promotion, including awareness campaigns by activists, mobile vaccination brigades, mindfulness sessions for women affected by violence, and the acquisition of refrigerators to store vaccines in ESMABAMA health centres and rural hospitals in Búzi and Muxungue. A significant milestone was the completion of isolation wards in all three health centres, each equipped with 15 beds, allowing appropriate responses to pandemics or outbreaks. This project was funded by Austrian Development Agency in partnership with Caritas Austria.
CEI

Graduation CEI scholarship students
The Continuous Training Support for ESMABAMA Staff and Sustainability of the Four Missions funded by Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) – supported vulnerable young people who could not continue their studies after secondary school. Many students graduated in technical courses such as culinary arts, electrical installation, civil construction, and IT, and in higher education, General Medicine. The technical courses provide not only employment opportunities but also the possibility of self-employment in their home communities, contributing to sustainable local development.
