Achievements in agriculture – agriculture Mozambique

Some figures that reflect the work carried out by ESMABAMA in the area of agro-livestock. Achievements in agriculture:

1,183.72 total hectares for agricultural production in the 4 development centers of Estaquinha, Barada, Mangunde and Machanga;

2,303.68 hectares for pasture in the 4 development centers;

246 bovine animals;

88.5 hectares of land currently exploited for agricultural activities;

3 hectares of orange and lemon trees in the development center of Estaquinha, which add nutritional value to the boarding students' diet, and to the commercialization of fruit in the region;

2022: production of around 7 tons of oranges at the Estaquinha development center;

416 members in the various farmers’ association supported by the projects developed by ESMABAMA. In the associations more than 73% of the members are women;

Promoting the role of the agriculture technician (5 in total) to support the communities, farmers’ association and schools of agriculture in agricultural production and in the treatment and diagnosis of animal diseases. Which contributes to some of the greatest achievements in agriculture and improving technical skills in agriculture;

Number of farmers’ association supported: 15;

Promotion of the farmers’ association model in order to promote mutual help and greater financial independence among its members, compared to individual production;

Around 110 hectares of agricultural production of the associations;

Soil analysis laboratory in Estaquinha - the only one in Sofala Province.
