Clean water now reaches over 100 families in Barada, thanks to a new water tower and public fountain with 4 taps built under Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Project funded by the United States Embassy. Despite this progress, the project faced an interruption due to funding cuts from the United States (US ) , preventing the full execution of the original plan. This had envisioned, in addition to the public fountain, water pipelines for 42 staff houses, including those of teachers and nurses.
Keeping the Project active: ESMABAMA’s efforts amid challenges
Even in the face of funding challenges, ESMABAMA has mobilised its own resources and internal efforts to keep the project moving forward. So far, water connections have been installed for four houses, with 38 still to go to reach the original goal. The organisation continues to seek new funding to ensure every family in the mission has access to this essential resource.
Similar initiatives have already been successfully completed in Machanga, Estaquinha, and Mangunde, reinforcing ESMABAMA’s commitment to expanding access to clean water and improving living conditions in rural communities.
