ESMABAMA Success Stories
| |
, This month’s Newsletter carries a bittersweet tone. On one hand, we are proud to celebrate the success stories of our beneficiaries, made possible by the incredible support of our donors and partners. Each initiative that you have helped fund translates into transformed lives, new opportunities, and a brighter future for thousands of people. With great satisfaction, we share some of these achievements. Through your support, ESMABAMA continues to improve conditions in education, healthcare, and food security, promoting the sustainable and inclusive development of communities. We hope these stories inspire and reassure you of the impact we are making together. On the other hand, we are also facing significant challenges that we must openly share with you:
- Several important projects at ESMABAMA are coming/ have come to an end, and, unfortunately, others we applied for were not approved. This has placed the organization in a difficult financial situation, which may affect our ability to sustain current levels of support to communities and retain our full team;
- From May 2025 onward, we risk having no project in place to support the operation of our Health Centers. This includes the purchase of essential medicines (as government supplies are often insufficient – there is already a shortage of malaria medication), maintenance, and fuel for ambulances;
- Many of the communities we serve are struggling to secure even one nutritious meal a day. Fortunately, thanks to the generosity of our partners, a project is underway to assist the most vulnerable families in Chibabava. We are truly grateful for your continued help;
- The political and social situation remains unstable in some areas.
In response, we are actively working on a restructuring plan to adapt to these realities and ensure that our impact remains strong and sustainable. We will share more detailed information with our donors soon.
To our Christian friends, we also extend our warm wishes for a peaceful Easter. Together, we remain committed to building a path of hope, dignity, and progress for all.
Best Regards Pietro Ferlito Director of ESMABAMA

The impact of health activists
| |
For the success of our work in rural areas, we rely on the support of health activists who provide personalised follow-up care to patients. More than just professionals, these activists are considered members of family by the community, often going above and beyond their duties.

In remote areas of Mozambique, where access to healthcare is limited, thousands of children have been protected through mobile vaccination brigades led by the COHEMO project. This is living proof that healthcare can and must reach everyone, no matter where they are.

In Matene, Mozambique, the local Adult Education and Literacy Centre is a lifeline for 88 children and adolescents who would otherwise walk up to 15 km for schooling. Despite being designed for adults, the centre welcomes young learners, driven by the dedication of teachers and community support.

Youth empowerment is at the heart of ESMABAMA’s new project in Machanga district, Mozambique, where young people are being trained in sustainable poultry farming. Partnering with IMAMA and funded by Missio, the initiative provides practical skills, business training, and starter kits, enabling students to create small businesses, boost the local economy, and build a more self-sufficient future.

Inclusive initiatives by CEI and Light For the World helped Jorge Felipe Johane, a young man with a disability from a rural community in Sofala, overcome educational barriers. His inspiring journey highlights how access to education and opportunity can transform lives, empower communities, and deliver hope where it's needed most.
